Chanchalben Mafatlal Patel College of Nursing has been established by Sarva Vidyalaya Kelvani Mandal under Public Private Partnership in joint venture with Government of Gujarat. The college has been established after an MOU has been signed between Sarva Vidyalaya Kelvani Mandal and Government of Gujarat, where in Government of Gujarat has allotted a Land admeasuring 16,000 sq.mts in Civil Hospital Premises of Gandhinagar on a long term lease of 35 years at an annual lease rental of Re.1. In turn Sarva Vidyalaya Kelvani Mandal has made a donation of Rs.1 crore towards “Rogi Kalyan Samiti” of Civil Hospital Gandhinagar and the students being admitted will get to use the facilities of Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar for their training as long as the college is in operation. The college has been approved by Indian Nursing Council to offer B. Sc., Nursing programme and has an annual intake of 50 students. The College is named in memory of Smt. Chanchalben as per wishes of Shri Mafatbhai Patel of Patel Brothers, USA her husband who has donated an amount of Rs.1.76 crores. The college is situated in the Civil Hospital Premises of Gandhinagar which is very opposite to the Gandhinagar Bus Stand in Sector 12.
The college is situated in picturesque locales of Gandhinagar, the Capital City of Gujarat. The Nursing college provides the best possible infrastructural facilities for conduct of B. Sc., Nursing programme as follows:
The building of the institute comprises teaching block, hostel block, cemented road, Water Facility with a water tank, Staff Quarters built at a total cost of approximately Rs.10 Crore. The building has been designed in such a way that it gives an aesthetic look with lush green lawns spread across the campus.
The college has 4 class rooms each of 100 Sq.m as per the norms of Indian Nursing Council. The class room is well ventilated and has all the modern teaching equipments like LCD projector, Overhead Projector etc., for a better integrated learning of the students.
The college provides laboratories as required by Indian Nursing Council in Nursing Fundamentals, Maternity and Child Health, Nutrition, Anatomy and Microbiology, Community Health Nursing and Audio-Visual Aids. The college has all the necessary equipments required for training of the students. In addition to these the institute also has a well developed Computer Lab with 15 terminals and necessary software. All computers are connected to LAN.
The institute has a well developed library with a total of 1311 books pertaining to various subjects of Nursing. In addition to this the library also subscribes to 3 National and 9 International Journals.
The institute also has a well maintained hostel facility exclusively for the Nursing College Students. It has 60 well ventilated rooms on twin sharing basis with attached toilets. The students are provided with hygienic food cooked in the most hygienic way.
The hostel also provides with 24 hours running water facility and provides for hot water facilities to students.
In addition to these the college also provides spacious accommodation facility to the staff and a multipurpose hall with a capacity of 200 for conducting various activities in the college.
The institute has tied up with Civil Hospital, Gandhinagar, Cancer Hospital, Ahmedabad, Paraplegia Hospital, Ahmedabad, Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre, Ahmedabad and Kanoria Hospital, Bhat for the training of students in various areas.
The admission to B.Sc., Nursing Programme is conducted through Centralised Admission Process conducted by Government of Gujarat. A student who has passed 12th Class in Science Stream with 45% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English is eligible to seek admission to B. Sc., Nursing Programme.
The college is going to start GNM course approved by Nursing Council of India With the intake of 50 Seats
The future plans of the college include
- Increase in intake in B. Sc., Nursing Programme from 50 to 60 from the academic year 2009-10.
- Commencement of M. Sc., Nursing programme with an intake of 25 seats from the academic year 2009-10.
- Tie up with foreign universities for the better career prospects of the students.
- Set up a centre of excellence in Nutrition in association with Share and Care Foundation, USA.
